Quality and innovation

We at SalatMestern have a high focus on product quality and food safety. The quality department currently consists of three employees, and a separate laboratory has been established internally. Products are checked daily for microbiology and other properties.

Our quality policy reads as follows:

«We will be an innovative company that produces safe food of good quality in accordance with current requirements. We will focus on continuous improvement and effective communication. ” The quality policy is implemented in all stages of the business and is supported by our objectives.

We are certified and hold the following certificates:

  • FSSC 22000 – GFSI-approved standard for food safety.
  • ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) – standard for responsible aquaculture. The certificate is awarded to companies that meet criteria with a view to minimizing the effects of aquaculture on the environment and society.
  • MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) – the environmental standard for sustainable fishing. Businesses that meet the criteria in this standard help to preserve the fish stock for the future.

Good ingredients

We make around 8000 tonnes of goods in a normal year. To achieve this, we need 700 articles of various kinds. The taste means a lot and good ingredients are therefore a prerequisite for the taste experience. Shrimp, for example, are a key ingredient in many of our products. The raw materials come from all over the world.


We at SalatMestern currently run a rational and flexible production with around 70 employees. Their knowledge of technical issues and food production enables us to deliver to well-known customers. Very often, new products are also created through a close collaboration with the individual customer.

Today, our product portfolio spans everything from mayonnaise , dressings, sauces, dips, mayonnaise-based salads, herring, cabaret, seafood in brine, mayonnaise in shackles, wok sauces in bags and seafood in MAP. We always strive to make the customer happy and go to great lengths to tailor products and solutions in collaboration with the customer.


We are constantly working on the development of design and packaging, so that the products are ensured freshness and appear attractive. MAP packaging (with gas as a preservative) of selected ready-made food products, is a new packaging method we have great faith in.

We are family owned and operated based on long experience. We are in a rapid development with new investments, most recently the acquisition of Ph Thorstensen .

Our ambition is still to be able to adapt products for customer groups with constantly new wishes and requirements for properties. We are passionate about the food industry and always make our knowledge available to customers.
